What is a fund?

In an investment fund, the investors' money is bundled and invested into one or multiple asset classes.

If a fund can be traded at a market exchange, it is also called an exchange-traded fund (ETF). The most common ETFs are index funds that track indices such as the S&P 500, the Dow Jones or the Nikkei.
